Message: Just spent my friday night at the Park Hotel with players from the Stars/Hornets reunion and it was very enjoyable.Every player was more than willing to take pictures and sign autographs.Every player appreciated the chance to meet fans and take pictures as they did with my 9 year old daughter.I was able to talk with every player at length and even went by on Saturday and talked with Gary Danielson,Richie, and Antonio for over a hour about his playing days and memories.I thought it was great for someone who has become so successful who didn't forget his roots and was glad to see all the guys that had played in ther WFL.Richie really did a great job,and Antonio is dictionary on WFL which is great to see from to guys who really do love the WFL.I definetly can't forget to say anything about Janey for she was a pleasure to meet and see.She could still be a cheerleader today and she was a joy to talk with.If you didn't come you did miss out and I'm hoping for another one down the road.

Message: Got back from the reunion about 2 1/2 hours ago-if I could say in one word how I felt being about that reunion I would, but that is impossible. Very well organized-Richie and Janey deserve a lot of credit for pulling this off-great to see all the memorabilia that was there-the pictures, mini-helmets, programs, t-shirts that were generously donated by Kicker Mo Lajterman, hearing all the stories(especially Art Reynolds-his were the funniest!!!), getting to see some film, and just doing whatever to help keep the legacy of the WFL Alive. Not even a car accident could keep Herb Gluck from attending the reunion-a great guy who always have a story or 50 to tell you...and he will if you give him the chance!!! Everything went very smoothly, and for those who came, you have provided me with memories that I will remember the rest of my life. I think Richie said it best when he said "The WFL is alive and well in Charlotte North Carolina". Last night, a lot of people were mentioning 2010 reunion. I know it's a long way away, but you can count me in to help out much like I did for this one. Let's see if we can get everybody this time!!!

Message: My name is ken Robinson, founder of InterNATIONAL FOOTBALL SCOUTING. I work with several NFL/CFL agents most of whom are full time attorneys. I handle all the scouting, marketing, research & consultation with pro teams & players for them. Me and some collegues have for years kicked around the idea of bringing back the old USFL and implementing the original plan: $20-$50K salary cap, non compete with NFL (hope to eventually have a 32 team minor league feeder system with NFL) like a AAA or AA MLB team, cable contract with USA or Comcast, play in spring up until NFL training camp. There needs to be a viable outdoor football option for the fans. If we avg even 10k (USFL avg 24k) fans/gm @ $20/ticket=$200k per home game X 8 home games = 1.6m + 1/2 road gate = 800 k = 2.4 mil. Salary avg 35k x 40 roster=1.4 mil, not to mention concessions & parking +TV (which we feel confident one of the cable networks would do to sell advertising) We just wanted to put out some feelers to see who would be interested in helping to put some of the plan in place. Call 480-545-1256 or email me if you are interested or even just to chat about the old USFL days. Ken Robinson Founder/Pro Scout & Marketing Director InterNATIONAL FOOTBALL SCOUTING 480-545-1256

Message: Looking to see if possibility exist to restart WFL, USFL and XFL and combine it as one leauge that starts in late spring, and at its' most succesful would finish during September and have Bowl game on Holloween. Little or no direct NFL competition, because late season games would be on Friday, Saturday afternoon evening and nights with few on Sunday...avoiding direct NFL competition. Looking to form study group that would contact former owners in aforementioned leauges and eventually bring working business plan to networks. Also looking for members to serve as focus group for competition comitittee, to tweak the game. (Foward motion between the twenty yard lines and more libreral pass coverage rules so that reciever and defender are not hamstrung by rules, allowing both sides of the ball maximum chance to play....) If you are interested in anyway or just want to send feedback, or know how to get in touch with owners in the former leauges then please by all means contact me

Message: I can't believe I just erased a half hour of reunion memories. Here we go again. What a great weekend! Two weeks gone, and already a host of indelible memories. The greatest group of guys I can imagine getting together with after 27 and 28 years. Tommy Sherman, still the fiery leader...where does he get his energy? Big John Elliott, ever the amiable star. Lukie, the gentle giant, things would not have been complete without him. Larry Butler, become a GQ model, so full of good nature and so happy to be there. J.B., the face man, the graceful linebacker, still looking for a taste of the wild side. The Kapper, it takes the heart of a linebacker to dig into the scene as he did...he should never have wasted his skills on offense! Robby Reynolds, I love to remember your fits of laughter. I never thought you would survive being unable to breathe for a half hour at a time. Eggman, still the mightiest of us all, still unwilling to harm a living soul...what a man! My sidekick, Art Reynolds, the Twatter, will always be a kid, could still make it through a Hornets game. My brother, Darrel, staying with me through an entire night of silver bullets and philsophizing with Herb, the Gluckster, poet laureate of the Hornets. And the coaches, the legendary Kentucky Babe and the most unique Lamar Leachman...they still have it, do they not? Thanks to the lovely wives who watched with amused wonder the spectacle of men becoming boys together as so many years just fell away. Thanks to Richie for his devotion to a team and a bunch of guys who he now knows really existed. Thanks to Richie, Kap and Bunge whose efforts resulted in the giving of an awesome gift to a dozen grinning teammates. Love and God's blessings to all! The Chanimal, #50 forever

Message: As one of the Co-Chairs for the WFL New York Stars/Charlotte Hornets Reunion this last week, I feel compelled to sign in on the guestbook and express some of the feelings I experienced throughout the weekend for those Coaches, Team mates and associates that could not make the Reunion because of schedule conflicts. The emotions ran the gamut from tears to enormous laughter. Certainly the stories and laughter, which ran into the early hours, outweighted the fact that our Reunion was short four people physically. Yet, all in attendance were in total agreement that spiritually, the guys were looking down and laughing right along with us. How do you some up such a great weekend in such few words. People such as Coach Vito "Babe" Parilli, Coach Lamar Leachman (and I might add his Giants Super Bowl Ring), John Elliot, a Jets Super Bowl winner with the spirit and enthusiasm and LAUGHTER he brought to the party! It is certainly something I am very greatful to have participated in and will never forget! As Coach Parilli so keenly observed..."we in life spend so much time focusing and setting goals for the future, daily, monthly, annually, and put all our energies into obtaining these new goals, that we rarely get the opportunity to look back on all our achievements and good times we have had." Add to this the fact that we get(got) to celebrate these times together with the people we lived them with 27 years ago, created the uniqueness of the occassion. I could go on, but words can not even come close to doing justice to describing the weekend back together!! It was fabulous, deeply touching, way to fast, 72 hours. See you in 2005, that will be 30 years, God willing! Take Care! All the Best! Kap

I was waiting for a tackling drill to break out. I may have been born after the league folded, but I will always be a fan of the WFL, and I was so glad to hang around with other people who feel the same way about preserving the legacy the WFL made. Thanks Richie-I owe you!!!

Message: Love your Web Site! Brings back a lot of great memories. I was in the 6th grade when the Hornets came to Charlotte and I was thrilled that we finally had a professional sports team! I can remember watching the Philadelphia Bell game at Memorial Stadiumn in the pouring rain wiht my Father. I also was lucky enough to attend several practices. I can remember meeting several of the players and how nice they were that we came out. My father got to know some of the players well, and after a game one night I went back to the locker room where I met Larry Butler. He gave me his muddy elbow pad and I was tickle pink! I remember him talking to me like it was yesterday. What a thrilled for a 11 year old kid. Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

Message: To all the players who played for the Hornets as well as for themselves, I considered it my privilege to be associated with all of you. I know times were hard then for all of us and particularly for you and your families, but I felt a special closeness to this team, considering that pro-football was and is a very tough business. After the Hornets folded, I had no desire to continue in professional football as I felt I had the ultimate experience. In the long run, the league failed, but I find it gratifying after all these years to find out so many players are still around and considering a possible reunion. If it does happen, I will be sure to be there, and hope we could gather at Old Memorial Stadium for one more goal line stand. This was a special time and you were a special group of players. Thank you, Upton Bell

I have nothing but the fondest of memories of the Carolinas, Charlotte and all of the wonderful people affiliated with the Charlotte Hornets. That team was loaded with outstanding athletes, exceptional people and priceless characters. When I think back on this period of time, in the mid-70's, I can't help but to smile. Thanks for revisiting these extremely fun and exciting days gone by. Best wishes to all. Woody
